“Among the most assured Japanese cooking in South London.”
Our story
01 — Beginnings
Yama Momo opened on Lordship Lane in 2015 as the quieter sister of Tsunami Clapham. The brief was simple. Bring the precision of the West End to a neighbourhood that was ready for it. Make a room people would book again on the way out.
A decade on, the room is still full on a Wednesday. The bar still pours sake by the carafe. The kitchen still cures fish overnight before service.
02 — The kitchen
Sushi is cut to Edomae principles. Rice is seasoned warm. Tuna is rested for hours before it sees the counter. Beyond the raw bar, the menu opens into European technique. Truffle teriyaki ribeye, miso-glazed black cod, scallops finished with sake and yuzu butter.
Halal, vegan and gluten-free options run across the entire menu, not as an afterthought, but as a parallel kitchen.

03 — The room
Low light, warm wood, a counter that runs the length of the kitchen. The bar leans into modern Japanese, with a cocktail list developed alongside London mixologists. Sake by the carafe or by the flight.
Walk-in friendly at the bar. Tables are easier with a booking, especially at weekends. For 8 or more, the private dining flow gets you served faster.
